I have a simple setup for this.

2008 iMac, Time Capsule and Apple TV.

I have my Apple TV modded and use FTP to transfer movies onto it from the iMac.

If I create a network by sharing the iMac Airport and connect the Apple TV directly to it - I can then FTP my movies over at 5 MB/Sec. Nice and fast.

I have setup my Time capsule to only allow N connection - have tried at 2.4ghz and 5ghz.

However then I never break more than 2.0 MB/Sec when FTP to the Apple TV.

Using the OSX Network Utility - If I set it to G compatible i connect at 130Mbit/s

and using N only it connects at 270Mbit/s

However both give me the same throughput....

Any ideas? What is the Time Capsule doing to slow me down so much....

walls kill a 5ghz signal very quickly. Is the extreme in the same room?

Yes all in the exact same room in line of sight...

FOUND IT...

as a last resort i DISABLED wireless security (WPA PERSONAL) and now it is transfering at 4.8MB/Sec - 5.3MB/Sec....

So.... Guess I will go for Mac Address based security for now until I can work something else out.....

Sorry - should have tried that before I posted.
