Achieving success with DVD copying/burning?

First post to the Forum (after much searching and reading)... wondering if anyone can share how to either make a copy 1:1 of commercial DVD (movie) OR how to convert *.m4v to Video_TS / VOB file format? I have been using Handbrake (v 0.9.4) with great success to rip into iMac, iPhone and iPod - but am unable to output in any other format than *.m4v and *.mkv. Any suggestions - either for a free converter OR paid solution??? Many thanks in advance!!!!

Am using iMac 2.4 Ghz 4GB RAM with Mac OS 10.6.2 (Snow Leopard)

Thanks for the quick reply... unfortunately - no cigar. Apart from the fact that Burn is consistently crashing (for what reason - I do not know)... it does not seem that I am any closer to being able to end up with DVD player format for some reason from the links you provided... unless I am missing something utterly obvious???
