Acoustic Drum Trigger Through Garageband and PA?

Hey, I was considering buying a drum trigger for my drum set to use on my snare drum, probably this one:

And I was wondering if I would NEED a drum module thing like the Alesis Dm5, or if there was a way to use the trigger with GarageBand and through a PA for the actual projected sound.

I was wanting the same thing,I have a bass drum trigger and wanted to know if i could use my macbook as a drum interface in live situations and plug the trigger into my mac and plug my mac output into the pa??
