Has anyone installed WatchOS 10 yet? Can you confirm what the side button does now? Is the dock gone? etc? Thanks!

Side button opens control center now. Dock (edit: Guess it’s just the recent apps, so maybe the dock is gone) can be opened by double pressing the crown. It’s running pretty okay on my AW Ultra. A few bugs here and there, but it’s usable. I can try to answer any questions.

Is there anything different with Control Centre?

Control center - ie what we used swiping up? How and why would they make this stupid change.

So you're saying Side Button opens the old control center (the one you would open by sliding up)--no idea what this needed to happen.

And double-pressing the crown just switches between the last two apps, i.e. old behavior?
So the Dock is gone?

What else have you found?
How does the switching to red-mode work on the Ultra-only Wayfinder watch face now, bc before that was done by turning the crown up.
Also have an Ultra, got iOS17 going on the phone, but not ready to install on watch? Would appreciate you reporting anything new you found; as well as battery life and what bugs you're seeing.

Double-pressing the crown seems to open App switcher and you can scroll thru all recently opened apps...not just last two like before.

Seems I can no longer swipe between watch faces....anyone else have this issue? I can long press to edit watch faces and switch from there.

Also the Home App has had some changes. I like the cameras are now at the top like iOS Home always does.

Really hate this change. I loved being able to press the side button and access my pinned apps (like Home). Why does control centre need to be a button. So now if I want to quick launch an app I need to go back to the app drawer and find it manually, rather than side button and a quick favourite 10 apps.

Any chance you can show us some screenshots, or record a video with your phone of what Double-pressing the crown looks like. Thanks in advance. How does it feel? Ok for a DD?

Also, saw elsewhere that you can't swipe between watch faces any more; not sure if that's by intent or a bug.

Lastly, saw a video that showed that just shipping up, forget if it was in a watch face or in an app, but just swipping up, as opposed to using the crown, got you to the new widgets view. Weird. They need to decide which is which, and why get rid of the damn Dock, shipping up from the bottom to get to the CC was not bothering anyone, but the Dock of most used apps was damn useful, pretty much how I launched 90% of my apps.

It seems pretty stable so far….not able to switch watch faces is my biggest annoyance. I can’t speak for battery life yet on a beta 1….so I would not suggest it as a DD. Here is two screenshots of double-pressing the crown:

Correct you can swipe up from the watch face or rotate crown to view widgets. Agreed, not liking the new CC on side button….I really like that button for my favorites instead.

I don’t think it’s possible to get to red mode now on the wayfinder face. Scrolling the crown up brings you to that new screen. Scrolling it down does nothing. I noticed on my default Contour face, I have to actually tap the numbers before I can use the crown scrolling animation on it.

I’m guessing that Apple went with the widgets view as a replacement to the dock. Just watched a YouTube video that shows there is a limit of 8 or so widgets you can use. That’s reminiscent of the dock’s limitation.

Speaking of which, is there a friggen battery widget in WatchOS 10? Can we see the damn iPhone battery level on it or what? Don’t know why this is so difficult for Apple to implement.

I hate the removal of the dock, but even if I settled for using recent apps, I'm annoyed they got rid of the app icon/name on top. This is awful.

I was able to edit it in the watch face editor to allow the red face. I simply created two watch faces (1 with red, 1 with color) and now I swipe left and right....

The other ridiculous part of this is they removed the swipe left and right to swap watch faces gesture. You now need to tap and hold then swipe left and right. I'm really hoping it's a bug.

son of a....shiz....guess I'll just schedule the watch face for sun up and sun down.

As the gesture is not re-used for something else, I‘m sure it‘s a bug.

This is the best video I’ve seen so far that shows and explains most of the changes.
