Hello,

I am new to this forum..
So I pre-ordered the iPhone 5 and it will get here tomorrow morning! I am with AT&T but I was not eligible for an upgrade, however my mom was eligible so I used her upgrade to get the new phone. I know you do not need to plug in the phone to your computer to activate it, but how can I make sure it is activated with my number and not my moms?

Thanks for the help =]

keep reading here. There are multiple threads on this "cross upgrade" thing. You will likely have to go to the store for a new SIM but maybe not. It would, at least, require you calling AT&T

WARNING: If you activate, your moms phone will stop working and her service would be moved to the new phone.

I did this with my 4. You'll need to call and initiate the swap to your number otherwise it will activate under hers.

Call 611 before turning on the new phone, should be option #2 and tell them you are doing an upgrade swap. No need to go to the store, they will just associate the sim with the correct number.
