How does this work? If I want the 2 GB of AT&T data, do I pay $25 regardless if it's April 1st or April 20th?

Or is the cost pro-rated or something for the rest of the month?

Easy misconception. The time of the month that you activate doesn't matter. You get 30 days to use the bought data before it expires, no matter which day you start on. So start on April 20, it ends and rebills on March 20 (quick guesstimate)

Lol. I'm glad you understood what I said, because I said that April comes before March. You get the point though. :D

For a quick example: my 'billing period' for the current time frame is 3/12/11 - 4/11/11

No refunds for canceling 15 days in though.

I'm pretty happy with the cost on the smaller plan.

True, but it doesn't actually cancel the remaining 15 days. It just stops renewing when the 30 days is up. So if you just want to activate for a month, then you activate, then cancel immediately, and you won't forget to cancel it later.

+1 This is what I do. I travel occasionally for work, but at 6-week intervals. So I have 2-week breaks between service months where I have Wifi access wherever I need it. So I pay for 4 weeks, go off the wagon 2 weeks, then renew before I travel again. Saves money :)

Oh good idea.

Didn't think of cancelling as soon as I activate. Lol.

I just bought a wifi iPad. Then. Add the tethering service when I need it and go back to standard iPhone data plan after. It's like $20 more and gives you 2 GB. it prorated when i do this so I only pay for what I need.

Within 60 days of what? Buying an iPad?

Canceling the service.. I pay my plan and cancel too, since there are times like the PP that I am only going to be home and have WiFi.. I lapsed over 60 days and I had to reset up my account, as long as your break in service is less then 60 days you are fine. It wasn't a hassle to reset up, I just wanted to let you know in case that would bother you about the cancel/repay method.

For me, this isn't an option. I can't do the tether because then I have to change my data plan.. Right now I am grandfathered for $30 unlimited ;)

I was but have never exceeded 800 mb so it wasn't a bug deal for me. Hopefully I never want to go back lol

Ahh, understood.

Not sure why that happens after 60 days, but I guess they have a good reason.

Thanks for all the help everyone.
