Easy as pie. Put the old phone next to the new phone and follow the prompts. Literally All there is to it. I switched my 13pm over to esim before preorder even to prepare, but the significant other still had a physical sim when she set up hers and it was the same process. No need to even talk to Verizon. Haven’t noticed an activation fee on my account yet. If there is one I plan on arguing it.

The only thing is on my parents phone if you go into the cellular settings they do not have the convert to esim option- and my brother In law and sister are planing on getting new phones since I’m kind of the tech consultant in my family

I don’t think that matters. It’s all done on the new phone. As long as it has the capabilities for the side by side transfer then your set

A lot of the mvno that use verizon, Tmo, and att@t towers aren’t offering esim like mine I’m SOL I called no esim. It’s ok I’m returning mine I like switching back and forth with different phones without contacting carrier each time.

I have AT&T since I’m in the US. And they do offer esim here since i did convert my physical AT&T to a esim right from my iPhone 12 Pro max

Are they on a prepaid plan with Verizon? From what I have read that is the difference. A regular postpaid Verizon account seems to transfer easily without calling most of the time. The problem is with prepaid accounts you will most likely have to chat online with them or call. I am on prepaid and I converted a iPhone 13 to esim and then when I got the 14 I had to transfer the esim. Both times I tried everything but ended up having to contact Verizon, once by calling and the other I used chat. Not a big deal and they were able to handle it quickly.

edited to add: I didn't have to pay any activation fees and both of these phones were unlocked.

I just did this process a couple of hours ago. Very simple process on post-paid Verizon using the above listed steps of placing the phones next to one another. I was using my 13PM with a physical SIM, and activated the eSIM on my 14P with no issues.

is anyone updating from iPhone 10s to iPhone 14 pro and dose the transfer sim from another device work?

It has been a nightmare for us to get eSIMs activated on Verizon Business. We got five iPhone 14 or 14 Pros, and every one has required Tier 2 technical support from Verizon to get them activated. We also tried porting a 14 Pro Max from AT&T to Verizon, and after 3 hours on the phone with technical support, they said to go into a store, where they of course said we need to call tech support. Several Tier 2 support people tried everything they could think of, then gave up and said they would "open a ticket". It has been 5 days, and the phone is still not active on the Verizon network.

With the combo physical/eSIM of iPhone 13s and earlier, people tried eSIM and, if that didn't work, resorted to physical SIMs. This masked how often it was a problem. According to Verizon, this is a very common problem.

The Verizon people are amazing. Unless you need to activate an Apple device. They really struggle with that. I have found that you just have to be patient. Call the support line and ask for help. You will get transferred around an unbelievable number of times, but eventually you will get the person who you need. I have been through this several times. Oh my first original Verizon port from ATT and with the new iPhone and Apple Watch. I don’t know why they have so many problems with that, but they do. I always give them grief by telling them how far away I am from corporate headquarters. Right now I can see it out of the window!

When I got my 13PM VZW model from Apple, it just activated with the eSIM without any additional steps.

Then there was a fee.

With my 12PM, I got unlocked, and moved the physical SIM, and didn't get the fee.

Don't know if using eSIM with unlocked can avoid the fee.

I wasn’t charged a fee for activating eSim on my 14 Pro Max from my 12 Pro Max, and I had to reach out to customer service to fully activate it. I was charged the $35 for activating my Apple Watch Ultra’s cellular feature.

We have Mint, an MVNO that uses TMobile towers. One has the option of using a SIM or eSIM with them. If an existing customer is going from a phone with a SIM to a phone that uses eSIM, the customer needs to reach out to Customer Service to get an eSIM. If a new customer is signing up for Mint Mobile, there is an option of choosing SIM or eSIM--clearly the customer will be able to get up and running quickly with the eSIM and not have to wait for a physical SIM to arrive.

I would hope that other MVNOs would do the same thing for existing as well as new customers. It would be foolish for mobile service providers NOT to support eSIM.

I think my newish phone only can accept one SIM and one eSIM, so I just moved the SIM card from my old phone and have been able to use the eSIM when traveling. Much less hassle than swapping out SIM cards and trying to keep track of my regular SIM card when traveling out of network.
