Activating with a different number than ordered

I purchased an iPhone 5 using my wife's number to get the upgrade pricing. But I'll be using the phone for myself. Do I need to do anything like get a new sim to activate under my phone number instead of hers, or does it matter?

i just did this

made the mistake of activating the iPhone by following the prompt

had to drive to the att store to get a new sim

so when you get the phone dont turn it on and follow the prompt, just call ATT
