Activation stuff if I want to sell AT&T iPhone 5S?

So if I wanted to sell my iPhone 5S that just came in the mail a few days ago, this is an AT&T SIM locked phone right?

IIRC, the 4S that I handed to my gf a while ago required it to be activated through the activation screen, and then I could remove the SIM, and slap a new SIM in?

Is that what I should do? If I sell it unopened to anyone, then they'd have to first activate the phone under my number.
