I've only ever used the stock Workout app. If I use a 3rd party app like Workouts++, Strava, etc. will the actual workout...

1) Be counted towards activity data (ie. steps, calories, etc.) and my rings? (I believe the answer is yes?)

2) Will the workout show up as a workout "green dot" in Activities (and count towards such awards as a perfect 7 day workout week) and will it be listed by name and selectable in the stock iPhone Activities app where I can currently see the list of workouts in the month and their details?

Thanks, I want to try some 3rd party apps but I hate the idea the workouts will only live in those apps and not Activities...

I believe that you need to allow the third party app to access the health data in order for it to count but yes it will work. I used the Nike run club app and Strava app and both of them do what you’re asking about

So if you open the Activities app on your iPhone you still see the workouts tracked by name despite being logged in the 3rd party apps? I'll definitely try some if thats the case...

Yup. It shows the activities and to the left of them is the little Nike or Strava logo. Definitely make sure that you’ve enabled access for the app to the health app as I think that’s how the data gets transferred.

thank you that's awesome!

Here's something that I recently noticed. I'm not sure if it's a big deal or not.

When I run, I use iSmoothRun instead of the built-in Workout app. When I finish a run, iSR will calculate the calories burned and report that to the Health app.

However, I have noticed that if the Active Calories sources are sorted with the AW having priority over iSR, I don't get the calories reported by iSR. I get whatever the AW records during the run, which is usually less. I think it might have something to do with iSR collecting all of the calories and dumping over to Health.app in one single shot.

I noticed this the other day because I ran in the morning and iSR reported 577 calories burned, but my Move ring (and Active Calories) showed a total of 510 for the day up until that point. So apparently, the AW recorded Move/ActCal of less than 577 for the run ... not sure how much it recorded.

Also, I noticed that the Move ring doesn't allow for 3rd party apps to take priority over the AW readings. So it doesn't even matter if the ActCal number is correct because the Move ring doesn't respect the priority settings for ActCal anyway.

I wonder if AW speedsters them out because they’re also reporting one to total calories, so they are backing out what you would be receiving as the difference between active and total calories for that time period.
