First of all let me state that I'm running beta 4 of both iOS 9 and watchOS. I'm aware that some of my issues could be due to it still being in beta, but I saw similar issues before installing the betas. It seems to be a widely known fact that the total calories reported in the Apple Watch activity app tend to be drastically overestimated. Like others, mine seem to be about 1,000 calories too high. The activity app reports both my total and my active calories. By subtracting the active from the total I'm left with my resting calories. From my understanding this number should represent my BMR, or at least be close to it. Given my height/weight, my BMR is around 1600-1800 calories. Yesterday the activity app reported my resting calories as 2,394. Here's where things get extra confusing. In the Health app (not the activity app) my Active Energy was reported as 1,244. This is the exact same as what was reported in the Activity app from the watch. The Resting Energy information is completely different however. While I mentioned previously that the Activity app gave me a number of 2,394, the Health app reports 1,524.05 calories, which is much closer to my BMR. All the data came from my watch, so why would the two numbers be so different?
