Like many of us, I've been unsure exactly *which* NVME-enclosure sensors are being reported by utilities such as TG Pro/Drive DX & etc; so wedged a 'Type K' sensor into the fins of a HAGIBIS MC40, containing a 990 Pro 4TB, idling halfway though the day's work while drawing about 5W. This Fluke 52 2 thermocouple thermometer is accurate to within about 1.5 degree C.

FWIW, Howard Oakley's excellent (free) Mints Utility - reporting SMART data via diskutil info - showed:

. . . so it seems rational to assume this SMART reading is from the NVME itself - which is in close contact with the body of the enclosure via an Arctic 3 pad - rather than the enclosure's controller-chip.
