I'm looking for a USB2 hub that can provide full bus power (to supply a Canon Lide80 scanner) - not all hubs do - and came across the Adaptec Xhub4.
It looks like it will do the business, but Adaptec claim it will only work at 1.1 speed on a Mac as Apple don't support USB2??

Three questions:
1. Does anybody know if the 1.1 on Mac claim is true or is it out of date?
2. Will the Xhub4 provide enough power (lide80 want 500mA)
3. any other suggestions for a good full power hub?

Thanks.

Can't help you on your other questions, but yes, Adaptec are out of date with that info. Current Macs support USB 2, and even older tower Macs can easily be upgraded with a cheap third-party card (I used to have a USB2 card in my G4 before I upgraded to a G5)
