I just got a brand new macbook. I was wondering what type of adapter i need to play my guitar into garage band. quarter inch to usb or quarter inch to firewire?

seeing as macbooks dont come with firewire, the answer should be pretty obvious

The new MacBook doesn't have FireWire.

You could go 1/4in to the Audio In/Out port. Adapter's a lot cheaper.
