I recently got my girlfriend a Nokia Lumia 521. It seems that there is some sort of incompatibility when using the EarPods with the Lumia due to some sort of pin configuration. I posted in Windows Phone Central forums about this issue, and they told me that I would need a specific adapter to make the EarPods work with the Lumia:
When looking up these adapters, I found that there are many different, but similar adapters. I'm not savvy enough to figure this out on my own, sadly. I was wondering if anybody else here has run into this issue, and if I could get a link to a (preferably cheap) adapter, that would be great. Thanks!
Nokia uses TRRS configuration that has a pinout of Left Audio, Right Audio, Mic, Ground while Apple uses TRSR configuration that has a pinout to Left Audio, Right Audio, Ground, Mic. You need to get a TRRS adapter. It reverses the microphone and ground pins.
