He's an IT guy, they always give false advise based off of what they think you said while they were ignoring you. lol



As for the OP, I'm not too sure, I tried some google searching, but nothing but this thread and unanswered questions like it came up. If ad blocking is truly a concern, maybe you should try firefox. There has got to be a ton of plugins for firefox that should work.
