Hi, I'm part of the Apple developer connection and am looking to buy a macbook pro. Does anyone know if I can get the free ipod as well?

No, you cannot. You can get a discount on the iPod in the ADC hardware store when you purchase your MBP, but it isn't much of a discount. The 80GB ipod goes from something like 350 to 314.

This is violating the TOS of adc. But.. you could buy a mbp with your membership, sell it to a friend that is looking to buy one, or on eBay. You'd get more money from your friend tho. And then buy a mbp with your education discount and get the free ipod. Sort of risky though because you don't know how much you'd get for resale of your mbp plus you're violating the agreement. I'm in adc too. Really its a great deal. $99+tax = a copy of tiger when I joined. (which I sold on ebay for 76) a copy of leopard when it comes out in Oct. A great discount on mbp. If I sell leopard when it comes or sell the leopard discs that come with mbp, I'll come up super ahead. I highly recommend it to anyone in school. joining is easy

what you are suggest is COMPLETELY against apple rules. The rules state that the person who buys it can not resell it to someone else until 1 year later.

Um, are student ADC members expecting to receive a free copy of Leopard when it's released? This is the first I've heard of that. I presumed that Apple only sent ADC members (or at least student ADC members) upgraded point releases. 10.4.5, 10.4.6, etc, when you already have 10.4.

Anyone got hard info on this?

Atm you get a tiger ppc-disc with your first package (or well, in december you did.)

I guess Apple doesn't want their developers to develop for an old OS.

I have no idea if Leopard will come with it after October thought, much less so for old members.

Well, if you look at it logically, you save $200 off the Education price on the base MBP through the ADC store. You get a $200 rebate off an iPod through the Education Store. So, in the end, that works out the same, basically. You still end up paying less through the ADC store since you get a discounted iPod.
