I assume after the year the membership is vaild, you don't need to renew? I am looking to get a student membership mainly to receive the one time discount. Also, anyone know if you can buy say a macbook pro through student developer pricing, but then buy applecare through education store? AppleCare is like $100 cheaper through education store.

No need to renew the membership after one year but once you see how much stuff they send you just for being a member you might want to renew anyway.

You can buy Applecare separately from your computer so I don't see why you couldn't get it through the educational store instead. I almost did the same thing but then decided not to get AppleCare at all.

What stuff do you get then?
