Hi, I am new to Mac; just picked up a 13" MBP yesterday. How do you add a search engine to Safari 5???

In Windows, this is easily done.

Did some quick search, but did not find any ready help.

Thanks!

There is no official support to do this.

You must be kidding!

I just want to add a search engine--baidu.com, in case you are curious--for search convenience. Why does Apple make this so difficult?

I love the build quality of the MBP and the elegance of the OS X GUI, but there are definitely a lot of things about Apple that I am as yet to learn!

Thanks for chiming in, though!

Have you checked Glims yet?
It seems to have that function you're looking for.

Then there is also Opera, Firefox and Chrome as alternatives to Safari.

Glims have a Safari 5 compatible version available to test on their Facebook page (search for it, I don't know the link).

Thanks to everyone, especially Spinnerlys, for the glims info. Installed it and added a search engine. The plug in also allows me to view Safari in full screen mode, among other things. Cool.

Thanks again!
