I have both iPads, so if I add an app to the iPad 1 would it also be downloaded into the new iPad 3? I mean if I only want it to be on the original iPad or vice versa, how do I keep it showing up on the new iPad? How does that work.? Both are shared with one iTunes account. Thanks for a reply.

If syncing with iTunes, go to the Apps tab for each device, and uncheck "Automatically sync new apps."
If not syncing with iTunes, on each device, go to Settings, Store, and make sure Auotmatic Downloads is turned off for apps. Well, actually, do this whether or not you are syncing with iTunes.
That's it. Each device just gets whatever apps you put on them manually.
