Add Asymmetrical Fan to 2011 MBA 13

Hey everyone-

I just got an open box 2011 128gb 4gb 13 inch MBA from Amazon Warehouse deals for $830... wanted the 2012 model but couldn't pass up this price. I know that the 2012 has the asymmetrical fan that was introduced in the rMBP, and based on the iFixit teardown the new MBA is extremely similar to the 2011.. so my question is does anyone think it's possible to add the asymmetric fan to my 2011? This is the only feature that I really care about in the 2012 vs 2011 model as I'm mostly in clamshell mode so the fan works overtime and it's pretty loud.

I don't know the answer to that but I have a question if you don't mind. Why are the fans working overtime when you're in clamshell mode? I've never used my MBA like that so I don't know.

I would like to know this too....I got my 2011 MBAir just over a month n half ago....

Not sure exactly why... but id imagine that the heat doesn't dissipate as quickly when the lid is closed (either that or I tend to to more at once when I have a 1080p monitor and full mouse and keyboard)

The spacing differences on the MBP retina are more... pronounced. Look for it on the iFixit site. They immediately make a note of their previous statement on the MBA13 fan.
