Okay, I got this tip from Peter Zich and here's the script: Click Here for Detailed Script

And I'm going to now show you how to get this on your iPod touch or iPhone the easiest way possible.

Lemme first start off by saying that I do NOT want my computer's Safari bookmarks on my iPod touch because there's way more sites I visit on my computer than I do on my touch, so I had to find a way to add this script to my touch bookmarks without copying over all of my bookmarks.

Do this:

1. Quit Safari
2. Navigate to Users/yourname/Library/Safari/
3. Make a NEW FOLDER called "backup" in the "Safari" folder
4. Move "Bookmarks.plist" to the "backup" folder you just created (for save keeping)
5. Download and unzip the "Bookmarks.plist" file I have created and posted here. View attachment Bookmarks.plist.zip
6. Move the "Bookmarks.plist" you just downloaded into the "Safari" folder.
7. Connect your iPod touch to your computer and let it open in iTunes
8. Click on the "Info" tab and check the "Sync Safari Bookmarks" box
9. Click "Sync" button
10. UNCHECK the "Sync Safari Bookmarks" box AFTER your iPod is done syncing.
11. Go back to the Finder and open Users/yourname/Library/Safari/ again and drag the "Bookmarks.plist" out of the "backup" folder and into the "Safari" folder and click "Replace".

You're done!

Now, on the iPod touch: Go to a website that you want to add to your home screen and tap the Bookmarks icon. Then, tap the "Web Clip Icon Maker 2" bookmark. Enter in the URL to the webclip icon you want to use (you need to know the URL address to the png file) -- Then tap the "+" icon and add the site to your home screen. Your custom icon should appear.

Extra Help: Your Own Free Web Server
One thing that I did to make my custom icons is I used System Preferences (Sharing) and Started the "Web Sharing" service. Then I just place all my icon files in /Library/WebServer/Documents/ and type in the URL to my icon (for example: "http://192.168.1.5/meebo.png") of course your URL will be different, just look at the URL that System Preferences shows you in the Sharing pane.

It's pretty easy to do. Note: The instructions look longer than they actually are, I just tried to make it as simple as possible and error-free so that anyone can follow what to do.
