How do you add thumbnail artwork and other metadata to media files so that they can be read on the PS3?

Clearly, the PS3 supports this somehow since when you purchase TV Shows or Movies from the PSN Store (both encoded using AVC) — they contain artwork thumbnails and metadata.

What’s the key here? It doesn’t seem to support metadata written to the file by iTunes-centric programs like iFlicks or MetaX. However, some media streamers (like Medialink) seem to be able to pass the thumbnail artwork to the PS3. But if you copy files from Medialink they lose that artwork.

Any suggestions? Mac or PC applications would be welcome.

The PS3 is selective on what metadata it will read from itunes. I labeled quite a few of my files with itunes and attached jpegs to the files of the movie or dvd covers. The I named them folder.jpg as it seems that is the standard format for a lot of application to view posters attacted to movies. you can do all this in itunes.
