Add new photos to Apple TV?

When I try to add a new photo folder (syncing from computer) to my Apple TV it deletes the folders already on the drive. How can I add new photos without this happening?

Are you on a PC or a Mac?

If you are on a Mac, you sync your photo albums that are in iPhoto, and from within iTunes choose which albums you want on your Apple TV.
