Add Photo To iMovie

I have tried over & over to add a photo to iMovie. I watched the tutorials, read the script yet no luck. In one example it was noted a "Green" line will show where the photo can placed, never seen a green line. I even changed the format of the video I was using still no luck. The photo(s) are from iPhoto as prescribed. I'm at a loss !
Suggestions Please !
