I'm running an older 24 inch cinema display on my MBP and am looking to add a SECOND 24 inch monitor for use in FCP.

My only cheap option seems to be a USB gizmo, something like this http://www.newertech.com/products/viddu2dvia.php
or
http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other World Computing/VIDU2DVIA/

Anyone have any experience with this device, specifically with FCP 6; I'd like to use the second monitor to playback the footage in the viewer so I don't think the device needs too much horse power but the footage will be in the ProRes 422 format.

Typically you won't want to be playing video on the additional monitors. Unfortunately, the USB adapters are not exactly fast or fluent, definitely slave display usage only.

those solutions are for boring officey soccer mom hobbyist type gigs.

If you had the coin, i'd get something a little more...beefy....

Has anyone actually used one of these devices with FCP, curious. I too think it would suck for high end graphic stuff but as a monitor in FCP ??????
