Using one of OWC's brackets to add a SSD and a normal 2.5" drive in the lower optical bay on my 2012 MacPro. Want to continue using the optical drive in the upper bay so have added an internal PCI sata card.

When others have done this where do they get power from? Apple uses a combined power/data cable end on the 2 supplied connectors in the optical bays.

Thanks.

Bill

Use an extension cable from the optical bay data/power connector. With the extension modify it to have additional SATA power soldered on.

You can also use an ATX extension lead from the Optical bay power point on the board and again solder on SATA power point to the extension lead.
