I have the midnight & starlight solo loops, and just ordered the succulent colour.

I wanted the yellow one also, but it’s not available for delivery.

How has this become so addictive?

The rush I get, when tapping the place order button is so intense.

Apple is onto a winner here, regarding bands.

I’m at the point of buying one every week. Anyone else getting carried away with this?

Check this thread - in AW accessories

I‘m slowly building up my collection, currently at 61. Some are quite hard to find but I‘m always on the lookout ;-)
If you were to choose one, as your absolute favourite, which would it be?

I can now see the FOMO with regards to straps, because they’re seasonal & if you don’t get one you like when you can, it’s possible that you may not get another chance to grab it.

Digressing, what computer do you use? I just ordered an M2 MBA. I currently have no computer, other than my iPad Pro.

Wishing you well.

I was the same when I got my first Apple Watch two or three years ago. I started with the plain black sport band that came with the watch, then found this place. Then it was "oooh that's a cool band, and that's cool too, and there's another...."

Apple & Nike released so many great colorways that it's easy to get carried away. You start with buying up all the current releases you like, then you find yourself searching eBay, Mercari, the marketplace here (and many other sites) for past releases no longer available through regular retail outlets. it is indeed a rush when you finally find a band you've been looking for & click "BUY", then tracking the parcel & watching for the delivery van to arrive.

If you really dig your AW it's a lot of fun. I switch bands every few days & enjoy flipping through my cases to see what color & style catches my eye that day. I go a step further & change the watch face, coordinating the color with the band. I haven't gone so far as to coordinate the watch band & face with my outfit but I know some do, and there's nothing wrong with that. 😉

The bonus is that it's a cool community here and another way to share interests, much like a car owner's club.

Enjoy!

I concur with everything you said.

At first, I thought 50 quid for a bit of rubber/mesh was taking the p word.

Now, I place a new order without skipping a beat.

And the whole buildup is all part of the process: Searching/researching, placing the order, tracking it, then the excitement when it finally arrives.

But the whole process usually starts all over again, when you go for the next one :D.

I also like to change my watch face, to suit the strap. I actually wish they (Apple) would provide more Watch faces, or at least allow us to design our own.

Yes, addiction all round with this one.

Collecting since 2015 …

Also, look at the poll numbers in the other thread. According to that, I‘m less insane than at least 28 other folks on macrumors. 😅

Not knocking anyone’s addiction. I have some of my own and I can see the appeal in this. I almost got into collecting Watch straps but realized that I’ll probably never go through the trouble of switching out. I’m a neutral color kind of guy so just stick with black. It matches everything.

That said, if Apple ever changes the connector design, for whatever reason, there will be a lot of pushback and outrage. Same like with the 30-Pin connector to Lightning. This is what was also happening when the Ultra was rumored and the uncertainty of whether or not the straps were compatible. I’m all for collecting bands but not at the expense of design advancement.

I wonder if they will change the mechanism?

I suppose it will have to haven at some point?

That‘s why it will never happen. In an interview that was released parallel to the Ultra introduction Apple designers even explicitly said that they know very well that strap compatibility is very important for many of their customers.

Same like with the 30-Pin connector to Lightning.

I guess there is less technological progresss in watch strap connecting than in computer ports. Apple simply nailed the Watch band connector in 2015.

No way. There was some uncertainty wrt the Ultra, but even that completely re-designed beast is compatible with every band ever made. Which is very, very awesome. 😊

Well if I had to choose just one I‘d go with the Pride Braided Solo loop. The braideds in general are the most comfortable to me and I love how this one goes with any of the Watch finishes.

I use an MBA M1 primarily and also own an MBP from 2016 which is still going strong.

Thanks for the response.

I’m wearing a braided now, and they are comfortable.

My first AW was an S6 and I always used a sports band. When I updated to an S7, i switched to Braided Solo Loop bands. I now have eight of them. The newest edition to my small band collection was Rainforest. I willl wear a particular band for a week or two before swapping it out for another color. My two favorites are Dark Cherry and Maize. I think Rainforest will become a favorite too. Surprisingly, my Product Red band is one of my least favorites, mainly because the red is kind of a washed out red and not a vibrant red.

I am in full denial (stage 1?) but all you people have a problem. :p

By the way, if not mentioned already you must check out this app (which I found out in article here on MR):

Makes it easy to keep track of all the bands you have and want...I mean if you’re into that sort of thing...

I first wore the solo loop, but I later switched to the braided solo loops and they are the most comfortable to me too.

But the downside is they do seem to stretch and get loose over time (I searched and found many other people said the same). For me this seemed to happen maybe a little under 1 year of daily wear (including stretching over the hand to take off to charge).

I wonder if it can be shrunk with gentle heat, maybe with a hairdryer?

That’s one of the reasons I switch out my bands every couple of weeks. After 6-12 months all my bands still give me a good fit.

Also, I wash my bands in a “delicates” bag in the washer, and dry them in the same bag in the dryer. Dont know if this helps retard stretching, but it does not seem to hurt and it keeps my bands very clean and looking good.

I haven’t joined the Apple band-wagon yet. Personally still find them over priced and mediocre. the only one I bought was the solo braided loop Inverness.

I have about 6 different bands for my Ultra already. The latest is the orange Nomad sport band. Just arrived yesterday. I have found the titanium color pairs nicely with a wide variety of watch bands. I liked the look of the orange Alpine loop but felt it’s more of sport color and didn’t want nylon for that type thing. Went with the Alpine green which I still enjoy using.
