Have been using this great dock when hooking up my Macbook Pro to my Samsung G9 Ultrawide Monitor

Just bought an M1 Studio. It will now become my permanent desktop. No need to hook up the MBP anymore.

Now, with the Studio, I could probably get rid of this dock as all the inputs I need are on the back of the Studio...

...that is, except ONE. Digital Audio (optical) output. The speaker system I have does not accept headphone input. Only Optical.

For that reason, I need to keep the Caldigit dock in place.

So here's my question...

Does anything get dumbed down using the Caldigit Dock as a middle device between my Studio and Monitor?

Why not just run the monitor straight to the Studio and only the speakers thru the doc? The Studio has at least four TB4 ports.

Maybe an even better option would be to buy a USB-C to TOSLink adapter and sell the Caldigit.
