Adding a default line space in Mail, so it's not crammed with prior message

Not sure how else to explain it.

When I respond to an email it opens and the part that says

"on Friday the 17th at 9:00am Bob Villa wrote"

but there is no space so all my emails are right on top of it:

looks like this..

Hey Bob, guess what....
"on Friday the 17th at 9:00am Bob Villa wrote"

I know all I have to do is hit enter, not that big a deal, but with as many emails as I write, it would be nice to format a space there.
Possible? Thanks
