I'm looking for a way to add Gmail's "Send mail as" feature to Apple Mail. I have a few different email addresses that all forward to my Gmail account. When I reply to a message in Gmail's web interface, it automatically sets the email address the message was sent to a the From header in the new message. Currently, Apple Mail can only change the outgoing address on the fly by which mailbox you last viewed. But in this case there is only one mailbox.

I'm not very familiar with Automator, but would this be the easiest way to add functionality like that to Apple Mail, or would it require something different/more complicated? (I'm talking about coding a new Automator action, not just using the app.) Anyone know of something like this that already exists?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Upon further thought, maybe this is really a task for AppleScript?
