Adding a go phone sim card to 2g Iphone

I have a old 2G sitting around and a friend of mine wants to buy it. Problem is he really just wants data and maybe a few hundred minutes a month as he uses a go phone and spends maybe 15 - 20 bucks a month on talking. Wondering if there is a way to unlock or add a newly purchased Go phone and use the sim card to activate it through att?
