I added a new line today to get the iPhone 5. I figured if i am going to keep it 2 years, I may as well upgrade now and skip the 5S next year.

My question is, I ordered the phone and it is due in 14-21 days. Does AT&T charge you for the data plan on the dummy line before you even get the phone? The paper I got said I will be charged an additional $110 this mont for the data plan and activation fee. The rep told me once it comes in the store, I can come in and they will transfer my number and unlimited data. I forgot to ask if I would be charged for the service before I even get the phone.

You get charged from the minute that you turn on the iPhone to activate it & the new phone number becomes active. The billing should be pro-rated. AT&T won't bill you for a line that's not yet in use. :)
