Adding a new line of instead of convert to share plan?

I have a iPhone 4S that I bought 61 days ago so I want to add a new line (2nd line) but I do not want to convert to share plan can I buy the iPhone 5 and get a signal plan instead of share? If so can this be done through apple.com or must I do it through verizonwireless.com?
