Adding a search bar to Safari...can it be done?

I find it infuriating when I quickly type something into Safari's url bar so I can search for it and it breaks out and only has half the text or it guesses a website.
Is there a way of incorporating an independent search bar similar to the old Safari?

Adjust your search settings and it won't do that.

Don't type so quickly...

Try this:
When you go to type something -- ANYthing -- in Safari's search bar,
TYPE A SPACE CHARACTER FIRST.
Then... enter what you're going to enter.

Try this and get back to us.
Does it make a difference?
