This is my first question on MacRumors:Forums. I searched for

dock separator

but found no hits with both dock AND separator in them.

On to my question:

Is there a way to add a separator (a thin vertical line) to the Dock, as there is when customizing Finder?

The dock doesn't support dividing lines per se, but there's a workaround in that you can add an icon to the dock that will perform the same function:

Take a look here

If you can understand it watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ywh7ASWtg_E

I have Dock Spacers, can't for the life of me remember where I got it but it's invisible spacers that will do what you want.

Peace:cool:

P.S. copy and paste this into Terminal "defaults write com.apple.dock persistent-apps -array-add '{ "tile-type" = "spacer-tile"; }' " ( without the " ) then do a killall Dock. you will see a space appear on the right side of the dock, you can grab that space (at the bottom) and move it to where ever. Want to make another space, simply repeat the Terminal. Just did it and it works great

Ok, so forget everything I said and go to macupdates.com search for Super Dockers and download that app. It will allow you to do everything from adding dock spaces to changing the dock look and a bunch of other things...

Peace

I've changed my Dock separator (the one that separates the apps from the stacks/folders/Trash):

This program called "Docker" is nice. It helps you touch up your Leopard Dock.

I like docker this is probably a stupid question is there a way to hide the open application icons on the dock?

Like hide the icon of an open app? I don't think so. But there's an option in Docker to only SHOW in the Dock the applications that are open. It might make things harder to open, though.

Changing the image

Is there a way to give this separator an image instead of just being blank?

For example, I think it would be pretty cool to give it the standard dock separator image (between the apps and the documents folder), found in the dock.app folder
