Adding Alias to Launchpad

anyone have any idea's? I want to place an alias to my Applications folder there so I can remove it from my dock. Just a thought. Thanks!

I have put alias in Application folder and it showed up in Launchpad, have not tries an alias to Application folder though.

doesn't launchpad have to see it as an app? (i.e. not a folder)?
think that's the issue..
