Hey!
I´m intressted in putting an extra SSD drive in my MBP, i have a 250 HDD right now and want to and an 240gb SSD to it, but how?
Is this even possible? iv heard many people talking about replacing the Original HDD but i don't want to replace it but add a new one. i also don't wish to remove my optical drive or anything like that, i just want to add.
I have the mid 2010, 13" model
Does anybody have a guide or a how to video that can help?
Or what are my options, what can i do to make this work?

Yes, in fact there is a large 4 L space for extra components in every MBP. Apple just didn't know what to do with it... Of course you can't do it. It's practically impossible.

You can EITHER:

1) Replace your HDD with the SSD
2) Replace the ODD with the SSD
3) Get an external enclosure and use the SSD via Firewire/USB.

As you don't want to replace your HDD, nor replace your ODD, option 3 is your only choice. You could replace your HDD with the SSD internally, then add the HDD to an external enclosure and access it when needed.

Using an SSD via FireWire, let alone USB, defeats the whole purpose of it throughput-wise.

hmm okey, then i guess i want to exchange my HDD for an SSD, does anyone have a good guide for exchange it?

MacBook, MacBook Pro: Replacing the Hard Disk Drive, transferring data to the new HDD

the guide includes:
  • 0. Identify your MacBook or MacBook Pro
  • 1. Getting a new HDD
  • 2. Guides to replace the internal HDD with a newer one
  • 3. Transferring data from the old HDD to the new HDD
  • 4. Using the optical disk drive (ODD) slot for placing an SSD or HDD inside the MB/P (OPTIBAY)
