My laptop didn't come with it built in. Can you purchase the module seperately and then install it? Or you can only have it if you ordered your ibook with it as an option?

It is a BTO option only.

No it's not BTO only. you can get it off of one of the powerbook fix it sites or an Apple tech can get one for you. I had one installed on a 12" iBook 1.2ghz for about 70 or 80 bucks as I recall.

You're much better off just buying a Bluetooth USB dongle (unless you gonna use it for a BT mouse or keyboard, of course). I use a cheap Billionton that is more than good enough...

Where in California did you go? I want to install one also. I want the wireless BT mouse but also to sync up information to my PDA.

Unitek in Santa Monica. Tech there ordered the bluetooth chip and antenna and put it in with a superdrive, new hard drive. Worked very very well; designed for the non bluetooth iBook. But Mad Jew is right -- I think that fix it site is where I saw the thing in the first place.

Thanks for the info. Santa Monica is about 20 miles away from me. Do you still have their # by any chance?

Damn, apparently they can't get the modules anymore and I'd have to look on eBay. $70 installed was a great price.
