Adding credit card to apple pay. goes back to homescreen

I found a weird issue when I tried to add a credit card to apple pay. I'd try to add a card, it would say go to settings to sign in to my apple id. And when i hit settings it goes back to the home screen. I found a way around it. I just go to view my apple id and sign in, then I was able to add the card. Anyone else run into this problem?
