I'd like an extra audio output from my iMac which can be routed from specific applications.
The reason being we have it connected to our TV where we watch movies played by QuickTime player 7 (it can be configured to direct the video to an external display in full screen mode) and someone else can use the computer to check mail, surf the web etc.
It would be nice if audio from Quicktime Player could be directed to the TV while everything else would come out of the iMac speakers as usual, and in the process eliminate having to plug/unplug the audio cable connecter from the TV all the time. I've heard about USB audio adapters (commonly seen on eBay etc.) which might do the trick for little money, but I have no experience with them and they seem to be mostly for PCs. I also don't know if audio can be re-routed the way I want and if Soundflower or similar apps can be of help.
What do you suggest I do?
