I truly love my new 12.9” iPad Pro. The new pencil that magnetically attaches for pairing and charging is awesome. But to me, it’s way too slippery. On my old Apple Pencil, I added a rubber grip sleeve and it worked great, but I can’t do that with the new setup with mag charging.
So I tried this hack and so far (two weeks), it’s working perfectly:)
I cut a length of 1/2” wide gaffers tape and wrapped it around the pencil. Cool part is the 1/2” width is the perfect circumference to wrap the pencil from one side of the flat to the other.
Now I have really good traction but the magnetic storage/charging/pairing isn’t affected at all. Even double tapping the pencil still works though the tape

Very cool! I was wondering if someone was making something for the pencil that would act as a grip. I, too, had an ink pen gripper on my 1st gen pencil, which I liked for comfort as well as reducing the slickness.

This looks like it might be an option.

I wonder though, would this leave a nasty residue when you removed it? I don’t know much about that particular kind of tape.

I kinda like that it's slippery, great texture and nicer than the glossy first gen. Cool hack though! Does it also keep the Pencil from rolling off the table?
