Adding Homekit guest does not work for me.

I am trying to add my wife to Homekit, but it does not work.

She receives the invite and accepts it. Then it never shows as accepted on my device. It still shows "invited."

I have scoured the internet. Some sites say it can take 24-48 hours to activate. Really? That seems crazy long.

If it doesn't take effect tonight, I am going to cancel her invite, reset her Homekit settings, and then re-send it. Can anyone add any other good advice.
