Adding up in numbers

I have a brain storm been using numbers on my MacBook Air for some time.
Today my brain went blank.
this is what I was trying to do in numbers I wanted to add certain items in the same column but wanted to add ie the first amount then the third and seventh in the same column but failed to do so I didn't want to add all the items in the column just a few.
Any help Please.

Press = in the cell and then + after each cell you want to add. Same as any spreadsheet.
