Address Book .abcdp Files

I just upgraded to Leopard and backed-up my data by saving my User folder on an external hdd. My Address Book contacts seem to be un-importable. Though I can locate the files in spotlight and the files are readable in quickview, I cannot import them into Address Book! All files are listed with the extension .abcdp . Please help!
