address book birthday year

I plan to publish a birthday list where I work. Since this is a sensitive topic for some people, I have chosen to add only the month and date to the birthday field in the address book. How can I get the year to remain blank. Do you know anyway around this?

I would also like to sort the birthday list by month. Any suggestions?
