Address Book data unopenable

I have lost all my very important Address Book contacts, I suspect some corruption issue is at fault. In my Home Folder>Library>Application Support there is a document sort of icon: AddressBook.data.previous that's 8MB in size. I'm hoping that's where all my information is stored but there's no "default application" to open it and see. I did not archive the information. The backup clone I have from 3 weeks ago also shows a total loss of data, wish I had checked to see if AddressBook was intact before I cloned. I fear all this data is lost. Is there any way to retrieve it from what I have in App Support?
