Hey guys, just wondering if you could help me out. I hadn't noticed until I tried to use it the other day, but Address Book seems to have uninstalled itself! Any idea how I could go about getting it back and also why it happened?! Cheers

If someone just drag it out of the dock to the trash you may think that "it's uninstalled".

Nah, it's nowhere on the machine at all. Viewing the file properties of the address book icon in the applications folder, it is only a few KB.

Ok, I tried opening through going into applications > address book > show package contents > Contents > Mac OS and then running the terminal thing called "address book" I received the following:

Last login: Sun Apr 27 07:40:45 on console
/Applications/Address\ Book.app/Contents/MacOS/Address\ Book ; exit;
Macintosh:~ stephenchampney$ /Applications/Address\ Book.app/Contents/MacOS/Address\ Book ; exit;

Are you logged in with your administrator user?

Do you still have your Address Book Library? If so you can recover your contacts.

Do you have an iPhone or something else that syncs with your mac? Or a .mac account?

I am the only user of the computer, therefore the administrator. I haven't actually used it previously, but I wanted to sync the contacts I had created on my iPhone back to my computer, which is when I became aware of the issue.

Ok try this, create another user and then see if the Address Book app works for that user.
Also you can try to sync your iPhone with it, but be aware to not loose any data before doing it.

Nope, Address Book app still not working on another account. This is really bizarre.

You said you tried installing it from the Leopard DVD? I was not aware that it was there as an option to install. Would you like me to upload my Address Book.app? Would that help at all?

Excuse me if I appear a little daft.

Yeah, on the leopard DVD, there is a section to install optional applications or something like that. Uploading your address book.app would be amazing if you could- something else at least worth trying! Thanks lots!

Cheers for that, just downloading now. Lets see if it works....

[Edit] It has!! Thanks so much for that allan, it's been driving me mad!
