Grammy award-winning singer Adele's latest album, 25, became available on Apple Music and competing streaming services at midnight last night, seven months after its initial release.

According to Billboard, the full album can also be found on Spotify, Amazon Prime and Tidal, following months in which only the singles "Hello", "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)", and "When We Were Young" could be found on music streaming platforms.

Sony released physical and digital copies of Adele's 25 in November, when it broke the single-week sales record in the U.S., shifting 3.38 million albums. The previous record was set by *NSYNC's No Strings Attached in 2000, which sold 2.42 million copies in its first week.

The move comes after reports in November last year suggested that Adele had personally chosen not to share the album on streaming music services.

That decision came after Taylor Swift initially refused to share her songs on streaming platforms that offered free tier listening services. Swift later took a stand against Apple when it emerged that the company didn't intend to pay artists during the Apple Music free trial period. But after the company reversed course, she too changed her mind and allowed Apple Music to stream 1989 and her other albums.

Ha changed their story huh??
Album must not be selling well, shes overrated and can't sell album like they thought now they have to resort to streaming online. Ha

She thought she was good enough not to offer it for sale the way all other artists do, what was she thinking??

Does anyone care at this point?
I do. I'm listening to it now after reading this post. This website has always been a bit negative and somewhat cringey, but the depths of insecure and at the extremes negativity that pervades these forums over the last 12-24 months is just getting to much to read. I guess its following the way of modern media, politics and so on. At least I have a choice to not read this anymore, I suppose.

Her album is like the best selling album for the past 10 years or some ridiculous mile stone. I'm sure this is because momentum has died down on sales so she's happy to stream.

I posted on this site a lot in 2004-2006 or so and the community was a bit more polite back then.

It's a bit shocking seeing all the vitriol, people want want want and seem to take so little time to pause and think about what they actually need.

Sometimes sayings, although seemingly banal can help understand our selves and others.

I have to tell myself almost daily that "all suffering is created by desire"

I also have to tell myself almost daily to absolutely never make absolute statements about things.

Heh.

Anyway I continue to read this site despite all the negativity because there are still good insights and opinions being posted, and it helps me understand what other people are thinking, as I live a pretty "un plugged" life compared to most people.

I'm sure it was just a financial decision. It's had record sales up to now and has sold more copies than there are Apple Music subscribers so her management team seems to know what they are doing.

Breaks selling records yet music companies say people are not buying music anymore.

Makes total sense to sell copies to as many people who can't wait as possible, then get the much lower revenue from renting to suck up any remaining cash afterwards. I'm only surprised more artists aren't doing the same thing, but I guess they don't all have the clout of er, 'someone like you' Adele, as it were.

Personally I think Adele is extremely mediocre, and would ask why this is news, but as more artists launch on a purchase only period of exclusivity, I wonder if purchasing music will become the cinema of music, with streaming the home video.

The album came out near the end of the year, and by Jan 1 sold 15 million copies. She just signed the biggest contract ever for a female artist as a result. Not sure what all your "ha"-ing is about.

I like her music, but disliked "hers" decision to not release it on streaming services before. Obviously this didn't stop me from finding her music for free from other legal channels. Artists of her caliber make money from tours not from selling the music.

Ha ha.

I couldn't agree more. I remember back in the early 2000s that this site always had that kind of self aware insecurity that a lot of the techie crowd at that time had. It led to some negativity and scepticism of Apple on here. But nothing, nothing like now. The articles too were so different. A few relevant and interesting arn posts, instead of a review of the latest pad and quill item or new Facebook feature. Anyway, it used to feel a lot more like a community (even with some animosity amongst its members). Now it's bad enough that I start wondering whether everyone here is a bot, paid by a competitor or something.

I used to remember when DVD rentals is available same on released date. Now this!? They make us believe that streaming is the new way of music consumption. Capitalism and corporate greediness at its best!

I suppose that was a bit harsh. I actually liked 21 but now I'm kind of sick of her and all her stuff sounds the same.

After Prince died he sold over 4 million singles and albums. His music is only available for streaming on Tidal and until recently a lot of his 90s albums weren't even available there. I think people will pay for good music. The problem is the industry pushes out crap like Justin Bieber. Who wants to pay for that?

She has an amazing voice, probably better than Amy Winehouse. I downloaded all the songs that I liked off the album (total cost $5). I listen to the songs when I like and I don't pay the streaming ransome. :D

This really sucks for the people that purchased her music and have Apple Music. IMO I don't care for her music so I wouldn't of bought it anyways but if I'm subscribed to a streaming service I will not buy anymore music for this reason.

Only 21 posts...I think that pretty much confirms it that no one is really interested that it's now streaming little too late?

Meh. I knew I'd love the album so I didn't mind buying it on release. I'm an Apple Music subscriber too but it doesn't really make a difference. I won't lose sleep over it.

Keep off streaming services so can get revenue from sales. When sales drop off then throw on streaming and get recurring revenue for the indefinite future.
