Adium - Can't Configure it at all

I downloaded Adium 1.3.5 and the screen looks just like iChat. No toolbars, options to customize, etc.

I'm so frustrated. I'm a new Mac user but am pretty software-savvy.

I've uploaded a screen shot of Adium as seen by me on my MacBook pro.
Any ideas?

When you click on "Adium" in the menu bar, can you go Preferences -> Appearance? That's generally how you customise it.
